Satake Releases "Full Color Belt Sorter - Wet Type"

Sorting damaged wet beans and grains with automatic self-cleaning

"Full Color Belt Sorter - Wet Type"

Satake Corporation has developed the “Full Color Belt Sorter ? Wet Type”, which sorts and removes defective wet beans and grains, after the immersion and washing process; the machine has been cleared for sale as of December 1, 2007.

The "Full Color Belt Sorter - Wet Type" is an evolution of the “Full Color Belt Sorter” and uses similar components to sort and remove damaged material from a raw material mixture. It uses a full-color camera to detect material defects.
In the manufacturing of processed foods such as cakes, raw material (beans and grains) undergoes an immersion and washing process, and damaged pieces (material with any visible defects) need to be sorted and removed from the mixture while the material is still wet.
Though sorting devices have been available for some time, the market sought a machine that could improve hygiene as well as sorting accuracy and capability.
Inaccuracies in sorting have led to many cases where several workers at a time were required to continuously hand-sort material that was missed by earlier sorting machines.
The "Full Color Belt Sorter - Wet Type" is the most hygienic and accurate optical sorter available today; Satake Corporation has utilized the technology from all of its previous optical sorters and developed it to adapt to the current demands of the market.
Proper illumination of the raw material is a crucial part of the optical sorting process.
To improve illumination quality, Satake Corporation has added an automatic washing function to the waterproof cover of the fluorescent light source and installed components to protect against dew condensation. Better light source protection allows for improved and stabilized sorting accuracy by guaranteeing a steady quantity of light.
To improve hygiene, Satake has developed a durable stainless-steel machine body and an easy-to-use cleaning function to wash away dirt.
These features help to shorten washing time and prevent bacteria from growing in dirt residue inside the machine.
Satake expects to sell 10 machines per year to confectionary manufacturers and similar food processing companies.
