Satake Technical Foundation subsidizes Grant-in-Aid to Seven Universities

Encouraging Development of Advanced Technology and Creativity

For the fiscal year 2006, Satake Technical Foundation (Chairperson : Dr. Toshiko Satake, Address : 2-30 Saijo Nishihonmachi, Higashi-Hiroshima-Shi, Hiroshima, 739-8602) decided to subsidize grants-in-aid to 14(fourteen) researchers in 7(seven) Universities in Hiroshima Prefecture and 4(four) international students, recommended by the prefecture, were provided with scholarships.

The grants-in-aid are aimed at encouraging and developing advanced technologies and creativity, and are provided to the researchers and international students working in the fields of Science and Technology as well as Biological Science every year. For the fiscal year 2006, 7(seven) universities were recipients of this grant-in-aid subsidy.

Satake Technical Foundation was established in March 1984. Since the establishment, the Foundation has contibuted 184(one hundred and eighty four) million Japanese Yen to 239(two hundred and thirty nine) researchers and 60(sixty) international students. The Foundation also built "Dr. Toshihiko Satake Palm Tree Memorial Museum" at Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture in January 2005 to contribute to the regional promotion of Ishigaki and advances in Botany. The palm Satakentia Liukiuensis (named after the discoverer Dr. Toshihiko Satake) was exhibited, along with other palm trees from around the world.
