Satake Releases the GABA Measuring Device “GABAlyzer”

Easy and Rapid Measurement Helps Users

GABA Measuring Device “GABAlyzer”

October 25 sees the release of the new Satake GABA measuring device “GABAlyzer”, giving easy and rapid analysis of GABA (gamma-amino butyric acid) content in rice.

Since developing the GABA Rice Production Unit which produces rice containing the functional rich component GABA (gamma-amino butyric acid) in 2009, we have worked tirelessly to raise awareness about our technology by opening GABA rice ball shops and registering as foods with function claims with the Consumer Affairs Agency.

Having first developed the GABA Meter for analyzing GABA content in rice in 2009, we are now releasing the improved GABA measuring device “GABAlyzer” which requires less handling time.

For “GABAlyzer”, we add a chemical to rice, shake it to extract GABA from rice. We then add enzyme and a reagent to produce the color. The device senses the color concentration to analyze the GABA content. It does not require any technical knowledge to operate the device. Anyone can do so easily. It takes about 4 hours from pretreatment to measurement when simultaneously analyzing 10 samples. The new device analyzes the GABA more rapidly than our conventional device which requires 5 hours. The measurer operates the device for only 2 hours when simultaneously analyzing 10 samples. Our conventional device requires 4 hours. The new device enables significant reductions in analyzing time and improvements in efficiency by reducing the operating time by 50%. Also, it does not require deleterious substances, so it is not necessary to store them or perform waste liquid treatment.

Features

High accurate measurement
It is correlated with the reliable liquid chromatography method and its correlation coefficient is 0.99. A high accuracy of measurement is available.
Easy operation and rapid measurement for many samples
It does not require any technical knowledge to operate the device. Anyone can do it. It takes about 4 hours from pretreatment to measurement when simultaneously analyzing 10 samples. The new device analyzes the GABA more rapidly than our conventional device which requires 5 hours. The measurer operates the device for only 2 hours when simultaneously analyzing 10 samples. No deleterious substances and waste liquid treatment
It does not require deleterious substances, so it is not necessary to store them or perform waste liquid treatment.

Outline of measuring procedure

1. Extract the GABA from rice in constant temperature shaking incubator.2. After performing the pretreatment, react GABA with the reagent in micro plates.3. Analyze the GABA content with the micro plate reader (measuring device).4. Display the measuring result on the computer.
